What this covers

Botanist Studio is software made by Botanist Media for organisations that produce video from their own research and collections. This page describes what it does with personal information about the people who use it.

It does not cover the content your organisation puts into the product. That remains yours.

What we hold about you

Your name and your email address, and a record of what you do inside the product, such as the stories and sources you create or change.

If you sign in with Google or Microsoft, we receive your name and email address from them. We never receive or store your password for those accounts. If you sign in with an emailed link instead, you choose a password for Botanist Studio, and it is stored only as an encrypted value that cannot be read back.

Why we hold it

To know who you are when you sign in, to decide what you are allowed to see, and to show your colleagues who made a change. Access is by invitation only, so your email address is the thing that connects you to your organisation.

We do not sell it, and we do not use it for advertising.

Where it is held

In a database hosted in Sydney, Australia. Your personal information is not stored outside Australia.

Who else touches it

Supabase provides the database and the sign-in system. Vercel runs the website. Resend sends the invitation and sign-in emails, and receives the address it is sending to.

We also use services that help research and score story ideas, including Anthropic, DataForSEO and Supadata. These handle the research material your organisation is working on. They are not sent your name, your email address or your account details.

Getting it removed

Ask the person who administers Botanist Studio for your organisation to remove your access, or write to us at the address below and we will remove your account.

You can also ask us what we hold about you, and ask us to correct it if it is wrong.

Contact

If you have a question about privacy, or you think something here is wrong, write to privacy@botanistmedia.com and we will look into it.
